History of the CU Expo Movement
Community-university research partnerships provide the opportunity for community members to work directly with experienced researchers to define a problem, conduct research, interpret findings, and apply results to bring about positive change. This approach involves creative methods of research to meet community needs and produce results that are important and useful to community, academics and policy makers.
CU Expo 2011 is organized by the community jointly with universities. Following CUexpo2008 in Victoria, the Centre for Community Based Research returned to the Waterloo Region and invited all community members to learn more about the CU Expo movement and the possibility of hosting the next conference in the Waterloo Region. As a community, it was decided the communities of the Waterloo region would take on the initiative of hosting an international conference, CU Expo 2011.
