Stories of Change and Innovation Through Community-Based Research

Our third pre-conference Roundtable Event was hosted by the Centre for Community Based Reseach on November 22, 2010.

John Lord and Tanya Darsi from CCBR facilitated an engaging discussion regarding the principles of community based research. Research that is: (1) community situated, (2) participatory, and (3) action-oriented.

We heard from three stories from community members who had been involved in community based research projects: 

Alex Troeger: Consumer Survivor Initiatives 

Debbie Wang: Taking Mental Health Seriously

Edwin Laryea: MT Space Theatre Production

Throughout the evening, discussion revolved around the challenges and opportunities for social action through community-based research. There was great discussion and the event had a real community feel.
